On the 19th of November, the Year 10s set out for their very first St Ignatius camp at Kauaearanga Valley Christian Camp, just outside of Thames. They were away for three days and had an incredible time.
We were blessed with beautiful weather and stunning surroundings, along with amazing support from St Ignatius teachers and parents. A huge thank you must be given to all the teachers and parents who gave up their time to deliver such a fun and engaging camp experience. Students were able to participate in a wide range of activities, including hiking, paintball, go-karting, archery, archery tag, the water slide, the Burma Trail, raft building, shelter building, air rifles, and some really entertaining evening activities. A great time was had by all.
In Term 4, we had the opportunity to go to the Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp in Thames. Over three days of laughter and competitiveness, we were able to challenge ourselves in new activities, bond with our classmates, and make unforgettable memories. Some highlights at camp included tackling the hike up the mountain, nightly challenges of the Burma trail and Cross Games, and adrenaline-filled activities like go-karts, paintball, and speeding down the waterslide. Whether it was the high-energy moments or chill time, camp gave us an experience to look back on for the years to come.

The second day had to be my most favourite. My friends and I started the day with a two-hour hike up a beautiful mountain that was covered in lush green trees and bush. Although it was very tiring, the view was definitely worth the walk. Afterwards, we participated in archery tag, which was very hot but loads of fun. I also got to do axe throwing, which was a new experience for me, and I hope to have the opportunity again as it was very enjoyable. Overall, this is one of the best camps I have ever been on and will remain one of my favourite memories. I also want to thank the parents and teachers who came and helped us with the activities — we couldn’t have done it without you.

My experience at Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp was exciting and educational. Me and my friends learnt about God while also having fun participating in activities like archery, go karts, and paintball. It made me closer to my friends and overall an experience I value deeply.
