Sports - Term 4 Week 1 2026
Sporting Achievements
Our ākonga have been busy over the holidays, with many achieving success and representing their clubs and regions across a range of sports. It is wonderful to recognise their individual achievements, dedication and commitment to their sporting pursuits.
We encourage whānau to continue emailing Whaea Mel and Mrs Compston directly with details of significant sporting achievements so we can acknowledge and celebrate their successes within our school community. While not all accomplishments are able to be shared on our school social media due to the incredible amount of successful students, we still enjoy reading of our ākonga and what they are capable of, and share as many regional and/or national achievements as we can.
St Ignatius Sports Awards 2026
As we look ahead to our 2026 Sports Awards on Tuesday 1 December, we are excited to introduce opportunities for additional awards recognising achievement and contribution within specific sporting codes.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals, whānau and businesses interested in sponsoring a code-specific award in Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Badminton or Volleyball.
We are also calling for nominations in two categories:
Student Volunteer Award – recognising ākonga who have made a significant contribution to sport through volunteering and service.
Outstanding Sporting Achievement – recognising exceptional sporting achievements by ākonga representing clubs, regions or
organisations outside of school.
All nominations and sponsorship expressions of interest close Thursday 5 November.

Ignatian Rugby
We are excited to be establishing Ignatian Rugby and building a strong rugby culture at St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College.
It all begins with our identity! We encourage ākonga to enter our Ignatian Rugby Logo Design Competition and help shape the future of rugby at our kura.
As we head into summer, we are also looking to keep our players active and developing their skills through summer touch, rugby sevens and development opportunities, building connections and momentum for the seasons ahead.
