Spirit of Adventure

The Spirit of Adventure is a New Zealand youth development program built around life at sea. Aboard the tall ship Spirit of New Zealand, a group of ākonga from St Ignatius embarked on a voyage designed to build confidence, teamwork, leadership, and resilience through hands-on sailing and shared challenges. It’s not just about learning to sail—it’s about discovering your own potential, forming lifelong friendships, and embracing the true Kiwi spirit of adventure. The group left the Auckland Viaduct and travelled up the coast, before anchoring our from Mairangi Bay for the night. The next day, they sailed up to the Tawharanui Peninsula, where they anchored for the next two days before travelling to Kawau Island. The final full day saw them sailing to Chelsea Bay. After a busy five nights, the group heading back to the viaduct where they met their families.
