Term 3 Virtue Awards 2025

Each term, our staff nominate ākonga who have demonstrated one of the seven key virtues: the theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love, and the cardinal virtues of Prudence, Fortitude, Temperance, and Justice. These virtues reflect a life directed toward God and are central to our Catholic character.

These virtues are more than admirable traits; they are signs that a person is actively directing their life toward God. When we live out these virtues, we reflect the values of Christ in our thoughts, actions, and relationships.

We are reminded of this through the life of Saint Carlo Acutis, a young person of deep faith and conviction. Carlo used his gifts — especially in technology and service — to live a life of virtue and devotion. He once said, “We are all born originals, but many die as photocopies.” His words challenge us to live authentically, to use our talents for good, and to strive for holiness in everyday life.

PRUDENCE


 Consistently making good choices



Zoey Schwalger
Zoey is a fair and honest worker who consistently makes good choices in the classroom and with her peers.

Sonja Schlebusch
Sonja embraces every opportunity provided to learn and practice new material, in class and at home.

Jacob Hughes
Jacob is a conscientious student who consistently makes good choices in the classroom and out of the classroom.

Ivy Kilian
Ivy consistently demonstrates prudence by thoughtfully considering the needs of others and making well-informed decisions. Her proactive approach and mindful awareness contribute positively to our classroom environment.

Samuel Speedy
Samuel consistently makes good choices and is a role model to all others.

Emily Tod
Emily consistently demonstrates curiosity and initiative by always asking thoughtful questions and helping distribute and collect books each lesson. Her dedication and helpfulness make a positive impact every day.

Michaela Arnet
Michaela consistently demonstrates curiosity and initiative by always asking thoughtful questions and helping distribute and collect books each lesson. Her dedication and helpfulness make a positive impact every day.

Andy Nguyen
Andy consistently makes good choices regarding his learning and consistently strives to improve in areas outside of the regular classroom such as with math club and math competitions.

Nic Madelozo
Nic shows prudence by going above and beyond in his learning while making positive choices. He shows wisdom by developing his knowledge and skills with dedication and persistence.

Daniel Scott
Daniel always thinks carefully before he adds a great contribution to class discussion and activities.

Simon Vicente
Simon shows prudence by making decisions that support both his learning and the wellbeing of others. He acts prudently by choosing to contribute positively to your community and lead by example.

Olivia Fitzpatrick
Olivia demonstrated prudence and thoughtfulness in sharing her Cook Islands culture while actively contributing to the planning and success of Cook Islands Language Week.

Momoka Laga'aia
Momoka is consistent in her approach to school life - she is thoughtful and considered in all she does.

Anne Finau
Anne showed prudence in promoting her Tongan culture and played an active and valued role in ensuring the success of Tongan Language Week.

Tamsyn Bennett
Tamsyn has consistently made wise and thoughtful choices in class, particularly in her preparation for the recent algebra test. She shows prudence by planning carefully, working diligently, and supporting her peers in their learning. Her hard work has clearly paid off, and she is a strong example of the virtue of prudence within our college community.

Ella Newby
Ella is consistent in her approach to learning. She always gives of her best and is consistently positive.


FORTITUDE


Demonstrating resilience and courage



Reid Yorke
Reid consistently demonstrates resilience and courage in class and amongst his peers.

Clara Wielenga
Clara shows resilience and courage, facing challenges head-on and never giving up. Her determination, leadership and strength inspires others.

Faustina Finau
Faustina never gives up and shows great determination in working through questions that at first seem difficult. She often waits after class to seek clarification, and she constantly looks for opportunities to learn, ask for help, and receive feedback. Faustina always strives for personal excellence — magis — and demonstrates true fortitude by persevering in her learning and not being afraid to ask for help.

Peyton Haufano
Peyton works diligently at her studies and remains highly focused on achieving her goals.

Quinn Robinson
Challenging yourself and taking on a Public speaking role and representing our school so well.

Kourtney Sublette
Kourtney always demonstrates a real pride in her work and does what is right at all times. She has demonstrated what it means to show fortitude by role modelling what it takes to be part of concert band.

Marco Omandan
Marco had shown Fortitude in his willingness to take on new challenges in the Environmental Elective and with his efforts in a extra-curricular sport for St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College.

Ciara Townsend
Ciara is an extremely hard worker who cares deeply about their progress. Despite facing adversity she always does her best.


JUSTICE


 Being fair and just to all



Ethan Clarito
Ethan is respectful to everyone, regardless of who they are, and offers measured, thoughtful comments in class discussion that reflect fairness and consideration.

Simon VicenteSimon is willing to help all students in a kind, fair manner, for any problem they have.


LOVE

Demonstrating love for God and others



Stacey Al-Haddad
Stacey shows kindness and self-respect by helping others and demonstrating a strong work ethic in every lesson.

Olivia-Rose Bullock
Olivia-Rose shows great dedication and love for our school through her leadership in choreographing a dance in the Lip Sync performance.

Elise Clotworthy
Elise shows great dedication and love for our school through her leadership in choreographing a dance in the Lip Sync performance.

Evony Burford
Evony joyfully and generously welcomes and includes others, extending God's love in day-to-day school life.

George Mathew
George demonstrated love by offering himself as a runner for Mathex without being asked so that an existing team could stay together. He stepped up and we are very grateful his love shone through.

Nic Madelozo
Nic displays love in a calm and steady way, always bringing a smile and showing courtesy, respect, and kindness to all.

Deanna Fermin
Deanna has a quiet, caring presence that brings warmth to those around her. She shows love in gentle ways, is always ready to help, and makes a positive difference through her kindness and thoughtfulness.


HOPE

Bringing light into the world
Emmalyn Maddren
Emmalyn courageously takes on different challenges in life, joyfully contributes to the school community, and shines as a beacon of hope to others.

Zaria Colbran
Zaria consistently engages in class with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Harry Robertson
Harry is a ray of sunshine in the classroom. Always cheerful and full of smiles, he brings positivity to those around them. He is always eager to help others, show kindness in everything he does, and make our learning space a happier, friendlier place.

Alyxia Ibarra
Alyxia always has a smile on her face. She constantly offers others encouragement, and is a joyful and hopefilled member of any class she is in.

Enzo Collado
Enzo shares his maths knowledge with others, which encourages them that they can do it too. He has a growth mindset and knows he can achieve through hard work.

Annabelle Shields
Annabelle brings positivity and encouragement to all those around her. She is always lifting others up with her kind words and helping other students.

Leo Bent
Leo has brought joy and happiness to our international students and has truly spread light in the world.

Ava Robb
Ava consistently demonstrates enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and the ability to take feedback positively to improve her learning in every lesson.

Ella Neels
Ella has inspired other students this year with her extra-curricular activities outside of school and has shown leadership in Xavier Barbier House competitions throughout the year.

Quinn Robinson
Quinn is a positive influence for all students at the College. She makes people feel welcomed, accepted and is a shining beacon for the school community to follow.


FAITH


Supporting Special Character



Amelia Quill
Amelia is always reflecting on how she is finding God in all things. In her discussions with students, in class, in Bible studies and small groups, as well as in her everyday life, her insights are deep, and she constantly seeks out ways to know and love God more, and how to share this faith with others.

Beau Kitney
Beau is always willing to help with school Masses; he approaches this with a willingness to learn and to try new things.

Joelan Laud
Guided by his faith, he makes good choices and stands out as a person of integrity.

Amaria Matia
Amaria does an amazing job leading examen and puts thought, effort and compassion into this task. She is kind and thoughtful and represents the school with pride.

Emma McRae
Emma is always willing to help out with liturgical ministry, as well as always wanting to learn more about how to be involved in Mass, often asking to help out in different ways.

Haeun Park
Haeun is always quick to support the Catholic Character of the school, whether by reading, musical accompaniment at Masses, or helping to set up.


TEMPERANCE


Practicing self-control



Celyn Rogayan
Celyn is a shining example of temperance, remaining calm in the classroom and consistently making thoughtful choices that support her learning.

Tessa Fergusson
Tessa stays focussed during lessons, encourages others and actively listens. She exhibits a high-level of self-discipline and interest in her learning.

Iyla Williams
Iyla demonstrates what discipline means by consistently arriving on-time and prepared for every music lesson.

Liz Dang
Liz is an example to us all in displaying the virtue of temperance. She is disciplined, attentive, dedicated and hard working in all situations.

Larissa Weggen
Larissa exemplifies the virtue of temperance through her consistent self-discipline and balanced approach to learning. She demonstrates patience, attentiveness, and a positive attitude.

Madi Clark
Madi is focused and dedicated. She holds true to her task regardless of what others around her are doing. She shows temperance when she persists with challenging problems without becoming flustered.

Konrad Karena
Konrad has been showing exemplary self control in his art, staying focused even when adding small details or repetitive elements. He is always on task, and completing his art to a high standard.
