The Sport NZ Voice of Rangatahi Survey is now open. This is an opportunity for our students to share their experiences and perspectives on physical activity, sport and recreation.
The information gathered will help provide insights to support our school and ākonga.

St Ignatius Sports Awards 2026
This year, our Sports Awards will be celebrated as a standalone event, recognising the growing breadth and strength of sport at St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College.
The 2026 Sports Awards will be held on Tuesday 1 December at 6.00pm. As our sporting programme continues to grow, we are looking to introduce additional awards that recognise achievement and contribution within specific sporting codes.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals, whānau, businesses and community organisations interested in sponsoring an award connected to one of our major sports.

Netball
Hockey
Basketball
Badminton
Volleyball
Sponsors are invited to propose an award that has a clear and meaningful connection to a specific sporting code.
Awards could recognise an aspect of the sport such as performance, positional excellence, commitment, development, leadership, sportsmanship or service. For example, Rugby may recognise a Forward and Back, while another code may have an award that reflects a particular aspect of achievement or contribution within that sport.
Each proposed award will need to include a name, purpose and clear selection criteria, along with an explanation of its connection to the sporting code.
All proposed awards will be reviewed by the College to ensure they are appropriate, sustainable and aligned with the direction of our sporting programme and College values.
Expressions of Interest - Sporting Award
Franklin Basketball
This week our boys headed to Franklin Basketball on Monday, followed by our girls on Wednesday. Once again, our teams were led by our student coaches, who did an excellent job supporting and guiding our Year 7 & 8 students.
We are proud of the way our students worked collaboratively, took ownership of their games and continued to improve their performances throughout the day. Congratulations to our girls teams, Angels played off for first and second place and lost by only 1 point and the Saints played off for third and fourth, also narrowly missing out to finish fourth. 
Ignatian Rugby Updates

A Term 4 pre-season training schedule is being established, with a focus on coordination, ball skills and fun fitness. This will be open to all age groups and others who might be interested in the oval ball. It may also be useful for those playing touch during summer. Committee members, with support from CMRFU, will run these sessions, with after-school timing to be confirmed.
For senior boys and girls (current Year 11), a couple of gym and nutrition sessions will be organised for Term 4.
The Year 9 Rugby team has enjoyed a great rebuilding season, demonstrating commitment, perseverance and growth while developing their skills. We thank the Kingsgate College players who joined the St Ignatius team, strengthening the squad and fostering valuable community connections, and Counties Rugby for supporting training sessions and weekend fixtures. Our sincere thanks also go to coaches Chris Butler, Nick Baldwin and Cory Bramwell, and team manager Usha Naran, for their guidance and encouragement. The team has built a strong foundation and will continue its rugby journey through 7s training, welcoming new players as it builds on this year’s achievements. - Apaula Lautua
