Duke of Ediburgh Surf trip 2026

We had the amazing opportunity to practice some flat water surfing skills and games at Māraetai Beach. It was a fun experience where we were able to challenge ourselves, try new things and make memories with our friends. We stayed at Omana Clifftop Campground, where we put up tents and cooked our own meals. My team goal was to develop new surfing skills and build confidence so that we could apply these skills to our qualifying journey. Overall it will be an experience that I remember for a long time!

We participated in a surfing trip as part of our Duke of Edinburgh award. We stayed at Omana clifftop campsite and we surfed at Maraetai beach. Through this two day trip we developed our team-leadership skills, our cooking skills, and our overall surfing skills. During this trip we had a strange experience where we discovered a hedgehog that had climbed into our rubbish bin. Overall this was a fun and enjoyable experience we will never forget.

We had the amazing opportunity to go for a two day surf trip at Maraetai beach where we stayed overnight at Omana Clifftop Campsite. We got to cook our own food, set up our own tents and develop our leadership skills. I got to develop my confidence in the water and talk to people I wouldn't talk to otherwise. Overall it was a great experience that i will remember for a long time.
