Vinnies South Regional Gathering
On Monday, the 21st of September, a group of Vinnies students from Years 10 to 11 got the opportunity to attend the Vinnies Regionals at Sancta Maria - an event where the Vinnies leaders and members can meet up, make new friends and foster our Vinnies spirituality.Initially, we were nervous to interact with the other students especially as they were Years 12 to 13, but everyone was so friendly. There were four schools in attendance: Sancta Maria, McAuley, De La Salle along with ours. The icebreakers and a break for afternoon tea really brought us Vinnies members closer together. We did a few group activities answering questions like, “how can we make someone feel more seen, respected and loved?” - which we answered by celebrating and including others - and “what can we do to contribute more to Vinnies?” - which we answered through fully participating and giving our all to God.Seeing everyone get so hyped up during Praise and Worship, I truly felt the Holy Spirit presence. Amy, Lauren and I had the opportunity to lead the set, including playing Rest on Us, and it was especially meaningful seeing a few people experience a Worship concert for the first time. It was amazing to be part of creating that moment for everyone. I feel so inspired after this event by the leaders and speakers there to continue my Vinnies journey through leadership and service like Christ. Joining Vinnies means more to me than the experience to go on school trips, but for the amazing opportunities to grow in my faith.These three hours went by so fast - it genuinely only felt like one. I can definitely say for all of us that we all had so much fun, met new friends and refreshed the spirit of St Vincent de Paul and Christ. And of course, we all said “Vinnies!” and took one final group photo together. Huge thank you Mrs Tupaea for organising this and Mr Marcelo for your help with transport, we couldn’t have gotten this opportunity without you.
